What is EMIG?
The Emergency Medicine Interest Group at University of Maryland School of Medicine is a student-run organization which provides members with exposure to various aspects of a career in the ER and Shock Trauma. Interested students are welcome to attend any or all of our events. We have exciting lunchtime talks from from faculty and residents in EM and Shock Trauma (they also usually include food!).
We also have many fun and educating labs including knot-tying, suturing, EKG reading, and phlebotomy! For those interested in what an EM doc does for a living, we have a mentoring/shadowing match program with the Emergency Department here at Maryland. The vast majority of our events are funded by the popular scrub sale at the beginning of the academic year. As events approach, e-mail announcements will be sent to the first and second year students. Please see our "Announcements" page for information on current events.
